Commercial Flatwork

There are many aspects of your business affected by concrete. First of all, many walls and the foundation of the building in which your business is located are most likely made of concrete. The parking lot outside of the building may also be concrete. Sidewalks, curbs and gutters are also most commonly made of concrete. Concrete has many positive attributes, but for business owners, one of the most enticing is that concrete is basically maintenance free. This allows you to spend less time worrying about the outside of your business, and more time worrying about what goes on inside.

SmithCon is familiar with all commercial and industrial concrete needs and has developed a good reputation since the company was started in 2009. The knowledgeable, expert employees strive to give you the best quality, best looking concrete project possible.

Exterior Concrete Work

Typical foundations used in concrete work are trench and formed foundations. Each are specific for certain uses, but sometimes either can be used for the same project. A trench foundation is continuous and free formed below the grade wall. This trench is designed so the concrete holds up the exterior of the slabs that align against it.  A formed foundation is made by using forming materials. These are typically used when building a multi-story building or tilt wall panels.

Integral Color Slabs on Grade

One of the most common ways to create a solid foundation is with slabs on grade. Slabs on grade is a where a concrete slab is poured into a mold to form the foundation. Before this foundation is poured, a sub base is packed a leveled. Sand or dirt is typically used for sub bases.

Slabs on Deck

Another way to form concrete is a slab on deck. A slab on deck is typically used for multi-level buildings. There is decking between levels that is used to hold the concrete and keep the floors level. Steel decking is most commonly used because of its strength.

Sidewalks

Without sidewalks there would be no designated places to walk. Most sidewalks are made of concrete because they outlast the wear of the weather and traffic and because they look better. That’s why they are important in both commercial and industrial building.
